i nEeD hELp!!!

To my beautiful friends, relatives, acquaintances, etc:

I am doing some research regarding my pre/post natal personal training certification. I am currently making a video and I want to know from all you sexy moms out there what kind of exercise you did or are doing (if any), how often, how it worked or is working for you, and all that jazz. I would love to know how you felt if you exercised while you were pregnant and for those who have had their children already, how it helped you post-partum. I know it's an odd request but I would love to hear from you and get your input for my research and video. Thanks guys, you're great!!!

Nobody has commented yet, so I will have to help!
Let me know if you have any specific questions.

When I was pregnant with Noah, I continued my workouts in the beginning at the gym- classes, eliptical, running, weights, etc. But I got sick and stayed sick until I was in my 3rd trimester and then I just couldn't move the same. I always walked though. I walked A LOT and far. I can't say it helped w/ giving birth b/c I ended up having a c-section. My recovery from the section was long and slow. I tried exercising 4 weeks after, and that was a mistake. I think I might have ripped something open b/c I couldn't move for a while. It was 3 months until I could start jogging, which I did until it got cold. I tried doing workout videos and then got a gym membership when Noah was 6 months. Now I am training for a race (see my blog) and I've even started doing 2 a days.
I can't even remember what questions you asked anymore...but there is my workout history over the last year or so! ha ha

well, personally, with both my pregnancies, I was super super sick for like...4 months. so no excercising then. when i stopped puking, it was always wonderful to walk. i did a lot of walking with sadie, and it was so relaxing. (minus the lower back pain, which just comes from carrying another person around.) i dropped the baby weight with her, and enjoyed working out at the gym tons afterwards. with the twins, i didnt do any actual excercising, because i was a high risk labor, and i was scared that i would do something that would put me in bed for a long time, and the doctors told me to be careful. however, i stayed as active as possible, taking care of sadie, shopping, and everything else. staying active was the best thing for me. so yeah, nothing amazing. its been hard to get into a routine since after the twins, but i am working on it and losing weight somehow. stress, i think...hope that helps!

Hey Brittany! I found you on Kelly Tompkin's blog. You look great as always!

Along with a couple other people, I was very sick in the first trimester. I suspect they also had Hyperemesis Gravidarum. I puked til 21 weeks along. So I canceled my gym membership because by the time I felt better, it was warm enough to be active outside.

I was in my 2nd trimester over the summer, so I enjoyed lots of swimming (3 times per week) and hiking (once a week). I was still working full time as a teen center teacher, so playing sports with and running around with the teens kept me very active. full mobility! It was wonderful!

In my 3rd trimester I went for an hour walk every day (almost. THat doesn't count weekends) and prenatal yoga DVD every morning for stretching. Sometimes I did the stretches at night too.

As a result, I was very limber for delivery. My most comfortable pose during labor was one from the yoga video, so I'd highly recommend that for anyone! I had a pretty fast recovery too. I mean I was up and able to walk around and climb the stairs in our apartment 3 days after giving birth without any difficulty. I don't mean I was up running and working out.

Now I am trying to get back in shape. I'm doing Jazzercize online 3 times a week which includes cardio, strength training, and stretching. Then I do a situp/leg lift routine and stretching on the off days. When the weather is nice, I take Gwen for an hour walk.
